Let’s talk about Vaccines

Any group which mandates individuals engage in publicly funded acts against their will is acting outside the spirit of the constitution and threatens freedom.

The proper role of government is to protect individual liberty endowed by our Creator.

As former President Calvin Coolidge famously said, “There is no justification for public interference with purely private concerns.” With businesses mandating proof of vaccination and discriminating against those who have not been vaccinated, the question becomes whether a private business should be able to impose such conditions.

Looking closely at Mr. Coolidge’s quote, he suggested ‘purely private concerns’ should not have public interference. In a similar vein, government has certainly grown far too big and intrusive in our lives. Forcing Company A and Taxpayer B to fund a vaccine that is mandated by Company C is repugnant to freedom and is a prime example of central planning.

A free and just society must reject coercive relationships and special arrangements between businesses and government.

Any group which mandates individuals engage in publicly funded acts against their will is acting outside the spirit of the constitution and threatens freedom. As the primary function of government is to protect our God-given rights, it is the duty of government officials to take steps to prevent such transgressions.

For far too long, politicians have used emergencies to seize power and strip rights from the individuals they swore to protect.  The Covid-19 outbreak, like prior adverse situations, has brought out the worst in some public servants as fundamental rights have been stripped away.
I remain on the front line fighting to restore the freedoms that Governor Whitmer’s administration has stolen from Michiganders over this past year. In Washington, I will be at the forefront fighting to restore freedoms seized by far-left progressives and their do-nothing allies in both parties.

Sincerely,

Steve Carra
